1996 Mercury Mystique review from North America

Since I purchased with only 39000 miles on it, the timing tensioners, timing belt, water pump, EGR valve, front springs, O2 sensors and driver window switch assembly all went out within 3000 miles. I have replaced the battery twice, plug wires, plugs, O2 sensors and EGR valve myself. It sat for 2 weeks in the snow and was not driven. After 2 weeks the front springs broke in half at the same time. When it rains, the car won't start, it surges at low RPM's, clock doesn't work, high blower settings don't work on heat or AC, runs hot all the time, trunk doesn't stay up, rear doors are VERY noisy even after lube, cup holders broke as did the replacement, drivers side seatbelt retractor cover fell off and is broken, gas door cable broke, trunk leaks A lot of water, tail lights leak water, brakes have been replaced 4 times as they warp very fast, WHEW... out of breath. Antenna doesn't go up or down, vents fell apart, all tensioner pulleys have been replaced more than once, drivers door lock sticks and you can open the door 95 percent of the time. It doesn't open with a key or with the handle. I crawl over the passenger seat to get in most of the time. I think I am going to cut the roof off and plant a garden inside. Seems to be the only thing its good for. NO MORE MERCURYS EEEEEVER AGAIN.

Use to drive and handle great.

Too many bad experiences to list again. Not much good from this car.
