General comments?
I bought this Subaru from a used car dealership in Melbourne, Australia on the 19/12/06 and it seems that I am the 3rd owner of this car tho it has been handed down from Mother to Daughter before I became the current owner.
From 1984 until 1999 this car was maintained at every serviced interval like clock work then it has a major service to which it had a complete engine rebuild.
Then from 1999 till now it was maintained again on a regular basis.
I bought this Subaru over the Internet, sight unseen and yes I know that in most peoples eyes as insane, but I did it anyways. I flew to Melbourne from Sydney on the 19th inspected it got told all these wonderful marvellous things about the car, signed the papers and started to lower the electric windows to adjust the mirrors only to find that the windows would not go back up. I found an auto-electrician on my trip back to Sydney and had the windows put back up.
Air-conditioning died half way between Melbourne and Albury via the Hume Hwy and was unable to wind the windows down made the trip home very hot. Stopped over night in Albury and at 6am the next day I continued home early to beat the heat, but not once did the car over heat. Yes she is very slow going up Hwy hills, but I did not buy her to be a race horse, but rather as a daily get around town car.
Once home I found that it had no radiator reserve tank so with a bit of novel thinking I took the reserve tank out off my old corolla and removed the car jack from its position so I was able the secure in a radiator reserve tank. I repaired the electric windows problem by buying a second hand cluster from All Parts R Us in Padstow.
My mechanic got his hands on her on the 08/01/07 for one week he went right over her and checked every thing. No structural rust tho some small minor surface rust that can be fixed.
Let's just say the Car Dealership told some whopping porkies to sell the car. I won't mention the dealership as it just not worth the legal hassle. But that's what you get when you buy sight unseen over the net.
