2002 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro review from North America
"This review will be deleted if I use the words I really want to use"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Ignition coils needed replacing at 30K, 45K, & 50K.
Horns needed replacing at 40K and 120K.
Radio needed replacing at 30K and again at 50K.
Headlamp washer motor needed replacing at 70K and again at 98K. When it fails, you have no windshield wipers.
Wipers seized at 79K, 98K, & 104K ("repaired") and 109K (replaced finally).
Antenna amplifier needed replacing at 120K (no FM signals otherwise).
Steering rack ($2000 cost) needed replacing at 120K.
General comments?
Handles like a dream.
Breaks down like a nightmare.
Dealer's response to numerous failures is "Well, it IS the first model year for the new A4."
My response is "So what? I paid 60K (Can$) for it. I expect it to work."
Dealers can keep telling themselves that these types of problems are to be expected with a new model. This is why VW/Audi ranks at the bottom of the J.D. Power and Assoc. customer satisfaction ratings. This is my fourth and final VW/Audi. Never again.
