1997 Dodge Neon Highline??? review from North America
"If its runs hot its over.."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Head Gasket blown @ 130,000 miles.
General comments?
I have to say that this was a good car I bought it new and through the years I have had no problems with the car it has always started even on the coldest mornings. It has great performance for a four cylinder. The heat and a/c are also excellent. I can say this though if you ever see your temp gauge moving up past half way its over.. in all these years it has never went up past half way until last month the hand had barely moved past halfway and knowing the Neon's reputation for head gasket failure I pulled straight off the road and let the car cool. After about half an hour I started the car back within five minutes the hand was up past half way again I stopped this last time and had it towed to the dealership where I bought it and of course they came back with the head gasket needing to be replaced. I did talk to a salesperson and they are going to let me trade it in one of the last 2006 Neon's that they have in stock and they are giving me a decent value for the car considering the head gasket is blown.
