1984 Ford Escort L review from Finland
"A great value car with pretty good comfort"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
It's a bit cranky in the morning, it runs on three cylinders from time to time... that is now in the winter. I suspect something is wrong in the carb.
Broken rear shock spring, a broken headlight bulb, in other words just normal wear and tear.
General comments?
A nice car, I wouldn't mind travelling across the country in it. I can sit comfortably in it although I'm over 195 cm tall. I have trouble finding a comfortable position in my mother's Volvo 460, but in my Escort I've been driving for hours without a problem. In other words, quite a roomy car as long as you don't need to stuff any grownups in the backseat :)
It have never failed on me in a year of ownership. Great heating system and it's not so bad in snowy weather either. I've never got stuck with it.
It's NOT a fast car, but what can you expect from an 1.3 liter carb engine? I have had it up to 160km/h according to the speedometer, about 150 in real life. It's fast enough if I don't need to overtake something that travels faster than 100kmh.
Overall, a great little car. I'm happy with it.
