1994 Ford Ranger XLT review from North America
"Very Good Truck"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I got the truck with a lot of miles on it already.
Since having it I have replaced the exhaust system including cat.
It ate brakes until, I replaced the master cylinder. Since then no problems with the brakes.
I also have replaced the fuel pump, starter and steering box.
I have to fix the wipers they don't work right now, I believe it is the relay sensor.
General comments?
The truck is amazing. It now has more than 200,000 miles on it and runs strong and does not use oil or leak any.
I don’t know the history of the truck as when I got it had 173,000 miles on it and knew some of those miles were very hard.
When I got the truck, it needed tires as the cords were showing. After buying the new tires, I took it for an alignment and had no problems with the tires and alignment. However, the tires were a little small for my taste.
It is my second vehicle and thus, I don’t drive it every day. However, when I go to get in it starts up no problems.
I had to do some minor work to it along the way, but I have never opened up the engine or the
transmission. These minor things, include a fuel pump, exhaust system, master cylinder, starter, and steering box. I consider these things minor because of the large amount of miles on it when they were replaced.
I lent the truck to someone and he hit a brick wall. The front end was smashed bad. However, I
went to a wrecking yard and bought a front clip and replaced it. I also bought used tires and wheels off an Explorer much larger than the standard wheels and tires. They fit with no problems. I now need to get the truck painted as one of the fenders is a different color and the hood is primer.
The truck is a little sluggish and the gas mileage could be better. But all in all it is a very good truck and I am very happy with it as it does everything that I need it to do.
I will not get a new one until this one dies and I expect that will be a long way off.
