1993 Renault 19 Alize review from Australia and New Zealand
"I wish they still made the 19!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Dashboard air vents fell in.
Accelerator pedal grip fell off.
Carpet wore out on drivers side.
Rear view mirror became wobbly, then fell off.
Headlight on passenger side loose.
Rear bumper came unclipped at the ends, sagging on both sides.
Lighter socket pulled out of dash.
Tachometer broke.
Drivers inside doorhandle snapped.
Lots of squeaks, groans and rattles behind dash and under seats.
Radio broke. replaced with a cheapy.
Muffler replaced at 156,000km.
General comments?
I loved my Renault. I only sold her because she won't pass roadworthy anymore.
Totally reliable. Started first go every day for 12 years. Never let me down.
She was lots of fun to drive and used only 9L/100km around town.
The car could have been better built, though. Things fell off or became loose and rattly after the first 3 years of ownership.
I will miss her. I traded her on a new Megane, with which I have already experienced inconsistent reliability.
