2000 Nissan Maxima GLS review from North America
"Will Not Purchase Another One!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Check engine light coming on and going off like a gremlin is in the car turning the switch.
It isn't as powerful as if was when it was new. And this started around 20,000 miles.
The automatic door lock jams and you can't access the car with a key or the electric key entry. This started when I drove off the lot. They kept telling me I wasn't pushing the button correctly- hogwash!
General comments?
WE have had rather cold weather recently and my car hasn't gotten very good gas mileage in the past two-four weeks.
Little did I know that something horribly wrong was happening.
I pulled onto the entrance ramp to merge into traffic on the interstate early one morning only to reach 60 mph & have the car completely stop and nearly getting rear ended by numerous cars. After shaking so badly and trying to catch my breath I finally got the car off the side of the road to a safe distance and had a "fall apart"!
I couldn't wait to reach work to call the mechanic and ask what I should do.
I was told to drive it in and they would check it.
I did as I was told- I drove it in and put it on the computer for diagnostic test- which revealed: bad injectors and coil (6 injectors- 6 cylinders) to the tune of $900.00 (and I'm a PREFERRED CUSTOMER!) or so it says on the decal in my window. I inquired about my extended warranty & guess what- it expired with 2006. I didn't have any recourse, but to have it fixed as after all it's a $30,000 car.
I feel stupid because I've been duped and it appears others have as well.
My One and Only Maxima- I'll not be guilty of buying another-
Oh and by the way while I was kept in the waiting area of the shop, I was approached by a salesman who stated " Boy that's a great car why don't you trade it for a new one $ 38,000 + extras."
"I told him NO THANKS!"
