If you can handle a little less panache, this is like a mini-Infiniti at little over half the price

2007 Nissan Altima S review from North America

"If you can handle a little less panache, this is like a mini-Infiniti at little over half the price"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing yet! Knock on wood, it's a new car and under warranty.

General comments?

This is a car I traded in my 2003 Legacy on. The old Subi (bless it's flat little heart) just didn't have the road manners it once did. It was loud and a little underpowered on the highway. I do a lot of driving for work now, so I wanted something with a little more power and a little more smoothness and refinement. I think I got it. My '07 Altima is real nice. Not real ostentatious, just stylish. I like it great so far. I'm also surprised by the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). This thing gets off the line very nicely, but then a strange thing happens: the engine just sort of lazes up to 1,800 to 2,100 rpm and that's about it. It doesn't matter whether you're going 15 mph or 75 mph. It works great.

I like the stereo, the steering wheel mounted controls, and the sunroof. The pushbutton start and keyless takes me a while to get used to. This car has upgraded safety features, too. Unlike my former car, this one has side airbags and all that. It has good trunk room. I'm getting a little over 28 mpg with it (on the highway), but it's not exactly broken in yet either. The cruise control works nicely.

On the negative side, the interior seat fabric is a little dull. Not cheap or uncomfortable, just not very fancy. The dash is simple and dull too. It does have a "retro" signature touch reminiscent of the old 280ZX, with the "triple pod" look in the center of the dash.
