Overall the car has performed adequately however having taken the plunge and purchased this vehicle brand new, I cannot help be a little disappointed with the diesel consumption.

I enjoy the extra toys such as cruise control which can be adjusted `in flight' either higher or lower.

The sound system is nothing special and strangely the CD does not have a repeat function.

The ride is quite bumpy and I cannot help thinking that a manufacturer who was once famous for the quality of it's unique suspension system has let itself down.

The `N' reg ZX I previously owned was also a diesel with a 1.9 engine whose noise was often compared to a French taxi, but it regularly provided a return in excess of 50mpg. I just cannot understand why a car with 21st century technology including the latest electronic ignition and a complex fuel readout akin to NASA, should at best give an overall figure of 43mph. I have checked the electronic calculations with an old fashioned calculator and Litres to Gallons conversion chart. My driving pattern has not changed for at least four years so my expectation of at least 55 to 65 mpg has been dashed. The dealer checked the diagnostics and that has failed to reveal any faults.

The Artic Silver finish gives it a classy appeal and the automatic headlights, windscreen wipers, cruise control make it an easy car to drive especially with the driver's arm rest. Overall it's a car that appears to be reliable, comfortable, easy to drive, but after six months ownership I feel a little short changed at the pump.
