1979 Leyland Mini review from Australia and New Zealand
"Its slow, Its ugly, it's a joy to drive!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Everything!!! Replaced the engine, gearbox, brakes, electricals, The works!!! This car is approaching 30 so I can't blame it.
General comments?
The mini isn't the perfect car for your average commuter, but it will get you more attention than an EVO or WRX or even a Porshe! If you own a mini or are planning to buy one. Be prepared for a lifetime of driving discomfort. Its slow, it struggles at 100kmh, its noisy, it rattles a lot, It rusts like hell, its HEAVY to drive (no matter how small it is, it has no power steering), the engine looks and feels like it came from the mesozoic era because the engine dates back from the early 50's which was millions of years ago, its basically the same powerplant as the Morris Minor, and it takes a quarter mile for it to stop. But don't let all that stop you. The mini is an unforgetable ride with character. A real eye grabber and crowd pleaser. you can park it anywhere too. As long as you look after it, it should last 30 more years.
