2005 Jeep Liberty review from North America
"All round not good"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I presently own a 2002 Jeep TJ and the 2005 liberty that I am commenting on. The suspension on the liberty is the problem. The TJ rides like a luxury car compared to the liberty. Driving over the same roads at the same speeds with both cars (our roads here are rough at best) you would swear that you would loose all the fillings in your top teeth on the same bumps that the TJ rides over with just a slight jiggle. It's almost like the liberty is bottoming out on seemingly small faults in the road. In the cold weather (-18c) and colder, you can amplify the problem to the point that it is almost not worth driving. I am at present time going to ask the sales manager at the dealer that I bought it to drive it for a day and then tell me that there is nothing wrong with it. I had a ride (over the same roads) in a friends ford escape the other night and hands down was a far far superior ride to the liberty.
General comments?
I do like the styling of the liberty and bought it because of how much I liked the TJ that I still own. I did buy the liberty without shoping around because of this. In hind sight it was a bad choice. I think that I could have done much better for the money that I spent. When I trade one of my vehicles, it won't be the TJ.
