1999 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.3 liter

GM should have buried the Blazer years ago..

Right front wheel bearing went bad at 67000 miles.

General Comments:

This S.U.V. is a lemon waiting to 'happen'.

Rickety, rough ride.

I cringe every time I have to stop at a gas pump.

4WD works good.

So many broad-sweeping problems and no GM recalls?!

Thank God my wife and I had the sense to buy an extended warranty.

1999 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.3L

Summary:

We have been very pleased with this vehicle

Faults:

Replaced idler arm @ 25000 miles.

Both seat adjuster handles broke @ 40000 miles.

Replaced battery @ 70000 miles (normal)

Replaced transmission @ 85000 miles. This occurred soon after we had a repair shop do a full fluid flush so I can't say for certain what might have caused the failure.

Replaced 4 shocks @ 100000 miles (normal)

Replaced spark plugs @ 100000 (normal)

Replaced door hinge bushings (front) @ 75000 miles. Fairly easy to do yet had to purchase a special spring compressor tool.

Fuel gauge does not work correctly @ 140000 miles. Forced to use the trip odometer instead.

False fuel tank pressure sending unit reading on dash cluster. I disassembled the dash cluster and covered the lamp w/black tape vs. spending 100s on a new sending unit.

General Comments:

Gas mileage as advertised.

Decent performance.

Good looking vehicle with many available after market accessories

1999 Chevrolet Blazer LS

Summary:

This blazer started out as a great vehicle, but shortly started going down hill fast

Faults:

At first my 1999 blazer ran great.

Except the fact that it is a loud running vehicle.

The seal around the driver's door started coming unglued around 20,000. I had it repaired under warranty.

Shortly after that, around 23,000 it came unglued again.

My rear-view mirror constantly is falling off.

The back windshield washer started leaking at around 25,000.

It leaked all in the back hatch ceiling and ruined the liner.

The liner couldn't be replaced under warranty because it wasn't a malfunctioning piece.

The dealer stated they couldn't replace it because it was at my fault for not catching it sooner.

I had it repaired and it did it again around 28,000 and again at 38,000.

The black trim around the windows started falling off around 38,000.

The passenger seat handle broke off around 50,000.

When I make a sharp turn you can here a popping sound come from the front end.

The AC compressor started going out around 75,000 miles.

The radio buttons and tuner knobs started cracking and breaking off.

Now all the knobs are just silver with no plastic covers. It looks bad.

General Comments:

This blazer started out as a great vehicle, but shortly started going down hill.

The seats are uncomfortable for long drives.

1999 Chevrolet Blazer LS 262 C.I., 4.3 Litre

Summary:

Thoroughly Disgusted!

Faults:

First off I should mention that I sold my 1993 Oldsmobile Bravada because the truck had high mileage. I sold the Bravada with 168,000 miles. It was starting to have minor problems so I thought a newer vehicle would be a good decision. Now I think I have made a huge mistake. Keep in mind this vehicle was purchased from a dealer on January 21, 2005. Things that have gone wrong to date.

Both seat adjuster handles are broken.

Driver's and passenger's doors sag.

Driver's power seat is jammed and will not slide on the track.

Intake manifold gasket needs replaced.

Pinion seal was replaced yesterday. That was covered under the warranty.

Rear wiper motor went out two weeks after purchased. That was covered under the warranty.

Both upper and lower ball joints need replaced along with the idler and pitman arms. Was also advised to replace both front drive axles. This bill will not be covered under the warranty because they are pre-existing conditions.

General Comments:

As stated before I thought buying a newer vehicle would be a good choice, but I think I made a huge mistake. I have always stood by GM products and will probably purchase another GM vehicle in the future, but I have to admit that at this point I am thoroughly disgusted with this truck. The body is in excellent condition and it runs great. What good are the looks if you can't drive it though? Fortunately I have had no problems with the 4 wheel drive. I also seem to get pretty good gas mileage. My Bravada averaged about 8-10 MPG. The Blazer has averaged about 17-22 MPG.
