2005 Chevrolet Epica LS 2.5

Summary:

Great! But Bad In Snow

Faults:

Nothing major yet.

General Comments:

I love my Chevrolet Epica for the most part. I love the Speed-sensitive steering, it is very light weight at low speeds, but comfortable at high speeds (unlike the Dodge Caravan). The Engine is pretty good, it could be a tad more powerful, but it gets the job done. And if pushed, it can go! I also love the brakes, they are very touchy and responsive. After driving my Ford Windstar which has very non-touchy breaks, I get in my Epica and almost give myself whiplash!

The interior is very nice. Many people have said how they find the Interior very comfortable. And the car is an Excellant Touring car. We test drove the Malibu, and although it had more power and was probably more fun to drive, it is very uncomforable and cheap looking compaired to the Epica. And the ride of the Epica is much smoother, and less tinny feeling.

The one thing I don't like is it has horrible traction in the Winter. I put on very good winter tires, but it doesn't seem to help. The ABS handles well on Ice, I've hit Ice before and rode it out with ease. But In deep snow, it is not good, even with the "Hold" (which keeps it from Downshifting"), it doesn't seem to help. I have got stuck many times in the winter!

In a way I wish I would have Bought a Toyota, just because of the Winter problems.

That being said, I do love my Chevrolet Epica in every way except for the winter driving. A good thing for Used car buyers as well is the fact that they sell for cheap... due to the fact that GM Discontinued them. I was told GM discontinued them because they didn't need 2 Mid-sized Sedans with the Chevrolet Badge... and they opted to keep the Malibu.

I am happy with my 2005 Epica except for the transmission.

Since shortly after I purchased the car (brand new), the transmission shifts rough, bumps, etc and is generally a piece of crap.

2005 Chevrolet Epica LS I6 2.5L.

Summary:

Sleek, Powerful, and Sweet!

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

I absolutely love my Chevrolet Epica. My car is a base model and it has tons of standard features! The 2.5 L I6 is so powerful, you would think it is a much larger engine. Touch the gas and the car flies. When you pin it the car has a healthy and nice sounding Roar.

I have never had anything go wrong with my car, it is reliable and sleek. And I feel like I'm floating on air. The other thing I like is the smooth and quiet Idle of the car. It is quiet driving, but it does roar if you push it.

I love my Chevrolet Epica, and I would buy another one in a second!

Indeed it does.

2005 Chevrolet Epica LT

Summary:

Wish they could do something about the annoying shift shock

Faults:

I have had a 2005 Epica LT for almost 11 months. Just after a few months, while cruising along, the car was bucking and jerking at intervals for no apparent reason. Also, the shifting of the automatic transmission in the lower gears was so jerky and noisy that, at one point, I thought that the bottom had fallen out of the car. The dealership replaced the throttle and that did eliminate the bucking and jerking while criuising along, however, the jerky shift shock when the transmission was changing gears, did not improve. The engine light began to pop on intermittently and after a few more trips to the dealership, they determined that it was an O2 sensor. Unfortunately, the sensor had fused itself to the exhaust manifold so all of that had to be replaced. I had just a little over 2 weeks of blissful, smooth and jerk free driving and now the jerky shift shock, when the lower gears change, has started again. The dealership insists that the transmission is OK. Anyone having the same problem?

General Comments:

Aside from the annoying jerking when the lower gears shift, I like the ride of the car and find the seats extremely comfortable for someone with a bad back.

2005 Epica LT The car is just over a year old, We also had the O2 problem and the car still bogs down when you slow then give it the gas. we have also problem with it rusting around the opera windows and chrome piece on the trunk around the licence plate. We can't get it to CODE the problem with the jerking. Ontario Canada
