2000 Chevrolet Lumina 3.1L

Summary:

Economical family car

Faults:

Engine rebuilt under warranty to correct piston slap at 36,000 miles. Dealer stated normal for car with that many miles.

Windshield wipers repaired three times in first 6 months under warranty.

General Comments:

Excellent mileage for a car of its size still getting approximately 25-27 mpg in town. It has gotten as high as 34 mpg on highway.

Original tires lasted over 70,000 miles.

Front brakes replaced at 60,000 miles, ready for third set already; seems to not be using the rear brakes.

The 3.1L is underpowered, It has always accelerated like it's pulling a trailer; GM should have used the same motor as in the Monte Carlo.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

2000 Chevrolet Lumina LX 3.1

Summary:

A nice comfortable, reliable, economical car

Faults:

The trip meter, doesn't measure mileage correctly, about (.6) miles per every 1 mile on the odometer.

I have had nothing else go wrong with the car yet, it has been a very comfortable reliable economical vehicle.

General Comments:

I driven the car about 5000 miles since I've owned it, and averaged about 31.4mpg combined city and highway driving.

The engine is so quiet, that the heater fan on speed 2, will keep me from hearing it while it's running.

For about $200.00 KYB shocks improve the ride considerably.

It has factory anti-theft, key-less door and trunk; power windows and mirrors.

I'm very happy with the overall value.

That would be because your trip meter is measuring kilometers, not miles. not surprising, seeing as Luminas tend to be re-badged Holden Commodores, made in Australia.

I'm assuming you mean LS, not LX, which would in fact be a Commodore Executive.

Actually, Sorry, US lumina's are most likely Opel Omega's. middle east lumina's are commodores, however.

No, the United States/ Canada /Mexico version are built in Canada, and are purely American "W" body cars.
