1988 Chevrolet Scottsdale 305 V8 now 350 V8

General Comments:
I got my truck in 1997. It had a 305 motor in it. The 305 was very under powered and I found Myself unable to pass people and there wasn't any power to do burnouts.
In 1998 I put in a 350 from an '87, but I kept the original bracket that held the power steering pump and alternator.
The body is the worst part of the truck. The cab corners, rockers, and box over the rear wheels are all rusted horribly. This is a common problem with this truck and is commonly referred to as "Chevy" rust.
I am very disappointed in the R4700 transmission. It has proved to me to be the worst feature due to it's bad temperament.
One major problem I've been having is that the little plug that my driver side low beam plugs into keeps melting. This causes the headlight not to work. I have gone through two and am on my third and my head light just quit working again.
Other than just normal wear I love my truck. Once I put in the 350 it was like night and day. I have the power I wanted and the truck just feels better. There are a few things I wish were different, but I can't complain. It has been a good reliable vehicle for me for many years. I am going to restore a 1972 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4 and I hate to sentence this one to a life of a snow plow, but sometime you just have to learn to let go.
