1996 Chevrolet Tracker Convertible 1.6 liter

Summary:

A great 4WD car that is both fun and cheap to drive

Faults:

Replaced the tires at 87,000 miles because sidewall cracks and checks worried me.

Replaced front brake pads and rotors at 91,000 miles.

Will replace rear brake shoes next week at 110,000 miles.

Lost the outer covering of the muffler at 105,000 but the muffler shop said that the muffler was still intact.

General Comments:

I park in Boston, MA so the short wheelbase means I can almost always find a space and its width means I don't get whacked by the doors of other cars.

It has been a very cold winter, but the heater is so good that the car is warm two minutes after the car is started.

It takes forever for things on this car to wear out and nothing ever breaks. That's why I have no dealer experience-I have never had to go to one.

I find the performance of the car more than adequate. It is not the quickest car on the road, but on the other hand I never get tickets for speeding. Part of that is because the police don't seem to believe that anything that small could possibly be zooming along at 75 mph.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
