2007 Peugeot 206 Look 1.4 petrol

Summary:

Unreliable disaster

Faults:

ABS sensors, A/C stopped working, wheel bearing, brakes, exhaust, suspension, oil leaks, coolant leaks, electrical faults, battery and alternator, door seal leaks, rust leading to MOT failure which required expensive welding, the list goes on and on.

This was a low mileage "approved" used car at purchase, I serviced it on time and drove carefully, but it still developed all these faults.

General Comments:

This was my first car and I didn't like it. I only kept it for 4 years or so because I was a student and couldn't afford anything better.

Look model is a mid range 206. It had air con (which never worked) and front electric windows. Wow. It was cramped, noisy and slow. Interior was ugly and plasticy.

1.4 was neither fast nor economical. Struggles uphill and you get about 40 mpg at best; would have expected more for a smaller car with a 1.4. My dads 1.8 Ford Mondeo at the time could get nearly 40 mpg, so this 206 was poor in comparison. Not cheap to tax either.

A poor effort from Peugeot, wouldn't buy another. I believe mine was the last model year produced for the 206 before being replaced by the 207. I've heard that car is an improvement, but that wouldn't be too hard.

Sold in 2016 for very little cash (they aren't worth much); glad to see the back of it.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

You did say it was your first car.

True, most people's first car is a disaster. Good way to learn the hardships of motoring though.
