2006 Peugeot 307 S CC 1.6 petrol

Summary:

Nice to look at, expensive to run

Faults:

Airbag fault light came on around 2 years after purchase. Wiring to the air bag in the side of the front passenger seat had to be replaced.

Around 3 years after purchase, the seal around the thermometer in the engine block perished and had to be replaced. The car was drivable, but constantly had warnings that the engine temperature was too hot, even though it wasn't. Also had to have a steering strut replaced as it had bent (although this may have been a result of going down one of the numerous pot holes around here).

Had engine timing issues with the car around 4 years after purchase. STOP warning appeared whilst the wife was driving with our young child. She had to pull over and be towed to the garage. Pretty costly to resolve, and the engine still doesn't sound great when first started.

Front headlights prone to condensation. Have been quoted £200 plus tax and labour to have these replaced. Thought that they were standard Peugeot lights, so surprised there are faults with them.

Numerous lamps have blown. Most frustrating is that if a rear number plate lamp goes, the circuit to the rear lights is broken so they do not work. Ludicrous piece of engineering!

Many times have had to have the brakes looked at as they bind.

Today the car had been parked outside whilst a storm was going on. It started OK, but at the top of the hill stopped running for no reason and would not start again. Anyone else had problems with this?

General Comments:

Nice to look at.

For the first year and a half it was fun to drive (even though it lacked some power), especially with the roof down.

Very expensive to run, and is now becoming frustrating.

2006 Peugeot 307 SE 1.6

Summary:

Satisfied after each drive :)

Faults:

- Needed a new headlamps, as it was damaged from the inside (cost £215 main dealer)

- Nothing else so far.

General Comments:

I have a Peugeot 307 1.6 SE with 110 BHP (2006) 24000 miles. Well first of all, I'd like to ask that why don't people like the 307?, I mean I've been reading the reviews on this website, but I personally think that the 307 is really good car. I've been driving the car hundreds of miles each day, and I can tell you with total confidence that it is a safe car, no noise from the engine as well as inside the cabin, however, it's a heavy car so don't expect it to fly! But in my opinion the 110bhp gives you enough power to drive 5 people loaded with luggage.. the acceleration is nice as well..

The fuel consumption is rather low in city, being a normal driver, my average is 32.8 mpg urban could drop to 29 MPG if you push too hard, however, on the motorway the mpg increases to at least 41.8 mpg so I think it's quite good.

The car is rally comfortable, no one complained after 300 miles long drive, everyone was satisfied.

The looks of the car are really nice, very attractive, and appealing, everyone just loved it, I had a lots of good comments.

Finally, I think it's a nice car, reliable, and smooth, if and only if you get the right one..

2006 Peugeot 307 SW 1.6

Summary:

Terrible, avoid at all costs

Faults:

Auto gear box continually breaks, truly awfull.

General Comments:

Avoid buying this car at all costs if for nothing else than the truly awful gearbox. Having 4 gears is no where near enough for a car of this size; gives 27mpg out of a 1.6??!!!???!! Also when is not broken on the motorway, then you'll find the clunking when changing gear unbearable and the delay between pressing the accelerator and the car reacting to it actually dangerous, especially when pulling out of junctions.

NEVER BUY A PEUGEOT!!!
