"Too Little for Too much, great overall on resell"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing really.
General comments?
This has been my sister's car for over 2 years.
I write this review because I enjoy this site :)
+ car is pretty
+ car is durable
+ car has resell value.
- car is overpriced for so little
- car is powerless.
Overall, it is a better looking civic with added weight and $$$$
I would only recommend the Manual version.
The one I drove was automatic passing a car on the highway is... well... sad.
You MUST downshift it to third D4 =>D3
But even at that... past 110kmph... this car is WEAK.
The automatic tranny is also very bad at downshifting when needed.
The price tag for this car is really sad.
Civics and Acura EL's are overrated and overpriced from 1996 to 2005.
An 2001-2005 Elantra GT (highest model) is a far better car in nearly all possible ways.
-engin EL1.7 Vtech elantra has a 2.0 CVVT
-options the elantra has traction control, ABS, roof, leather, seat warmers, defrost mirrors, 4 airbags... everything the el has and more.
It even looks better
better suspension.
For a lot less.
All in all... the Civics and EL's of year 1996 to 2005 are good cars under this strategy.
Buy it used for 11 000$
Sell it 3 years later for 9000$
Costs you 1000$ a year.
Also, if you (b) don't (/b) buy it from a kid who abused it to its doom (cheap air intake, Riced stickers, cheap ajustable suspensions...) the car will not give you a problem.
