2001 Acura CL 3.2 review from North America
"Comfortable, smooth, responsive!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
At 94,000 heard a high pitched gear
while at highway speeds and
transmission would occasionally jerk while shifting between 3rd and 4th gears.
Replaced rear brake pads at 100,000 miles.
Changed transmission fluid at 90,000 miles.
Dealer gave me a whole new transmission at 94,000 miles.
No more gear whine or jerking while shifting.
General comments?
Bought the car used and have been really happy with it.
Have read all the horror stories about the transmission and other quality defects; but apart from a transmission replacement that was done under and a transmission recall-everything else has been flawless.
The dealer even gave me an RSX to drive for 2 weeks while the transmission was been replaced.
Car had been very reliable and very cheap to maintain.
I changed the oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, power steering fluid, brake pads, spark plugs, pcv valve-all by myself- and they were very easy to do. Car was designed very well and is very east to work. In 20,000 miles of driving I have spent less than $200 for scheduled maintenance.
