The in-line six piston engine takes up more fuel than are gallant, but putting hotter plug's and sparkers reversed that. The engine trim is somewhat difficult to work whih, but you can remove it with change, but even though it cases a problem it makes it almost show material. The head rest cloth can get harder, but you can use cloth cleaner to get rid of that.
I got the car at a cheap price, but it does not show it. The pickup of the car is most likely the best in the acura models. and the automatic is like no other in it's class. I tried to get an after market window tint, but little reddish bumps made the window tint bubble and kept it from looking it's best.
Are you on the original tranny because that's a lot of miles. I've read of them going out around 85k to 100k and mine is going at 85k. Had the car since 66k miles and it was extremely well cared for.
I have a 1998 3.0CL Premium and sure enough the transmission began slipping and was eventually replaced at 62K miles. Also, whenever the turn signals are used the headlights and console lighting dim along with the flashing signals. The electrical system was checked out and no defects were noted. Other than that the car has been really a pleasure to drive.
January 2, 2006- The Acura CL Premium 3.0 has been a great car (absolutely no problems) up until 65,000 miles, when it needed a new transmission and new alternator. Was really disappointed with the transmission, given that all scheduled maintenances were performed.
62 and 65k seem really early for the tranny to go. Think that is the lowest I've heard.
Right around 85k is the kiss of death. Have mine at 90k now and the last 5k it hasn't acted up at all. Strange...
I have a 98 Cl prem. with 94k miles. No tranny problems. Maybe I'm lucky.
My CL's tranny problem messed up at 76k which sucked, I gladly know that it's not my fault hahah =)
All CL trannies are not known for going out. ONLY the V6 model had the bad tranny.
Mine has 145K and runs and drives perfect... never had a tranny problem. Its the 2000 and up you need to worry about. The newer cl is much heavier that its predecessor... this extra weigh contributes to the automatic transmission failing sooner.
