1997 Acura CL 3.0 review from North America

When I purchased the car the brakes squeaked so I had the dealership (VW Audi) put on new rear brake pads and rotors. They continued to squeak afterwards and I brought it back to the dealership to have them adjusted. Then about 12 thousand miles later the squeaking returned in the rear and I brought it back to the dealership and apparently they couldn't fix the problem.

At about 100,000 miles the speedometer broke. It'll say I'm going 100 mph when I'm going 40 mph. Usually it's off by about 20 mph, but sometimes it works fine, and sometimes it doesn't work at all.

Anytime you lock the door from the inside you have to hit the lock about 4 or 5 times before it actually locks. Sometimes the key less entry doesn't work at all.

The struts also need replacing. Since about 5,000 after I purchased the car if you sit in it and sway back and forth the whole car squeaks without being in motion;it sounds even worse when you're taking a turn.

After I drove 2,000 miles cross country and back when you started the car it made a loud squealing noise for about 3 minutes when it warmed up. This lasted for about 3 weeks and then just stopped.

I also don't understand that almost every time I do a U-turn it ends up being a 3 point turn because the car is so long.

So unfortunately the car looks great when it's parked; but it's almost embarrassing to drive with all the noise it makes.

Besides all the bad things, I love the car. I love the power it has, I love the way it handles corners, I love the way it looks, I love the Bose speakers, I love that it's a two door and has no problem seating 5. My absolute favorite thing about the car is that you rarely see people driving the same car as you.
