Needed a new catalytic converter (car is imported). Had one installed, parts and labor, for 180 dollars.
Exhaust rattled afterwards. The body shop I took it to must of been too jerky on it. I found the shield that rattled and put a steel hose clamp around it and the pipe. Free fix :o)
Extremely good gas mileage if I could just keep my foot out of it. My particular car has 172 horsepower (dyno tested), but I hear that normal usdm models have 160. No matter what these are extremely fun to drive.
Great stock stereo.
Easy to read gauges and clock.
Already pretty low to the ground but needs bigger than 14 inch rims.
Seats hug you tight and are adjustable in every way (yes, even the sides).
In my opinion the best for its money. I got mine used with approximately 50,000 miles on it for 79000000 yen rr (8,000 us dollars). Bone stock.
I own this car and you hit everything right on the money. Great car, good review.
I have a 93 Gsr and I love the car to death. Bought it with 45000 miles on it and now has 97000. Even though it has 97k miles on it, its still super super quick with the B17 1.7 DOHC motor. Runs faster than stock 94-95 Integras. Only thing I changed was the fuel filter, oil, window (after being broke) and usual maintenance. If you can get your hands on one of these cheap, go for it! Cheap to fix, fun to drive, cheap to maintain. What else do you want from a car?
I just bought this car, it had 156k miles on it when I got it and still runs like a dream. Everything you said was right on the money.
I just got my hands on 93 Integra GSR for $4000 and I must say that I will most definetly love this car!!! I had a 91 GS before and this is nothing compared to the GSR!...there are some maintenance issues, but hey, I can fix those... the engine loves it when it revs at 4k RPM... it really comes alive!! Awesome car!!
So true! My fiance and I just our hands on one last week for $5200 with 110,000 on it. We previously sold a 96 GSR since we were having engine problems with it and we just getting more and more in debt. But we took a look at this car, took it out for a drive, and bought it on the spot. Car runs so smooth even when its dropped. Too bad these cars are rare, they are one of the best older cars I've ever been in.
I've had my '92 GS-R since new and NOTHING has broken on this car. Everything is still stock except for the clutch which I didn't replace until it hit 184K!!! That's right, an almost 200K clutch, although I must admit I am about a 75% highway driver. The car has 198K now and still running great.
I just bought a 1992 gs-r for ONLY A $1000.00. This car is so perfect all over. No rust or any problems. The car rides better than my buddies newer gs-r and is faster. I got it with a 152,000 on it, but it feels like it has 152 miles on it. I owned 10 cars last year and this is my favorite one. I have never payed so little for a car that's so fun. It corners like a dream and when you put your foot to the floor it flies right through the smooth shifting gears. Best money I have ever spent. If you find one you better get it.
My 93 GSR is by far the best car I have ever owned. My GSR has 280,000kms, but still drives like a dream. I love everything about it and have kept it as mint as possible. The only problem I encountered with it was a minor leak in the trunk.
Get ready to get your mind blown, the 1993 acura integra GS-R is just as quick as the world renowned 1997 acura integra type R,,.001 second slower in the quater mile not a full second just 1 tenth and is exactly the same in 0 to 60 in 6.5 seconds. I don't even own a acura. I have no reason to vouch for a car I don't own (would like to) just did research and the B17 1.7 DOHC motor showed me that 197 hp aint all that great,,, its all about gear ratios.
As for the previous comment, MANY variables affect performance testing. The only way to accurately compare cars is to race side-by-side with same driver skill, added weight etc. NOT by comparing different magazine articles.
As for the comment about my comment, these magazines do all this for the potential drivers, and under different conditions and besides the magazines, honda itself does these tests and then delivers the facts to dealers and stupid magazines, so think before you say things which undermine what I am stating,, I'm just stating the facts,,93 gsr is on par with type r, with a smaller engine at that,,, if a five hundred pound man drives a type r and five hundred pound woman drives a 93 gsr,, results may vary,, that's allllllll your saying dum dum, meaningless.
I wonder what the seat looks like after these 500 pound people get done unwrapping their bodies off of them?
Hahah, the seats look like pancakes, but yes the 93 gsr is the sweetest ride and that's that.
I would rather have a V8. 4 bangers require too much crap; variable valve timing, dual over head cams, and look at the Mitsu. Evo, it has to turbo charge to get results comparable with any well done V8.
If you applied the same logic to any V8 such as turbo or forced induction, you get outstanding results. Look at a turbocharged Dodge Viper or a supercharged LS1 1998 Chevy Camaro if you don't have viper money.
The camaro with forced induction will devour any crappy four banger. Japanese stuff is weird and the only reason you kids like it is because of the 1973 fuel crisis, where american muscle finally died.

This is a Type R vs an SiR, which I believe is the same as your american GSR.
Watch how the Type R trounces the SiR with ease right from the start. This was a proper test with timing gear and proper drivers.
Now tell me it can keep with a Type R.
