1988 Acura Integra RS review from North America
"The worst Acura that continues to move"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
In chronological order:
Fuel leak in gas line. Cost: $16.
Exhaust has become deafening. I never got around to fixing it; I just keep the music volume high.
Fuel leak in gas tank. I continue to drive it with the leak. It only leaks on left turns.
Driver side outside door handle was ripped off by a mechanic, it was always weak. Cost $45 from a savage yard + hours (maybe 5) of time to get it in and working.
Passenger window fell off track. I glue it in place with epoxy, but it broke again within 2 week of minimal use. I choose to leave the door panel off so I could fix it quickly when it brakes.
Rack-n-pinion. No more power steering. I'm junking the car so there is no need to fix.
General comments?
I was a fool to buy the car. The previous owners obviously knew nothing of car care. Within a month after I got it I realized it burn oil like crazy, when I changed the air filter I was black, I think it was still the original 1988 filter. The car was beat.
I loved the proformance before the power steering went. I love the look and the 5 door design. I want another with the reliability of a Acura.
