1990 Acura Integra LS review from North America
"Quick and nimble with good gas mileage"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Thermostat went bad.
CV joints make a noise when turning sharp.
Sunroof does not close.
Automatic transmission slips at times when shifting to 3rd gear (The s3 light starts blinking). I changed the fluid and added some Lucas that seemed to help.
Rotor came apart in the distributor these cars are notorious for that, use high quality parts when tuning up.
Radiator started leaking; they’re made out of plastic. I changed mine out to a metal one. They should have metal ones to start with not the cheap plastic ones that can’t be fixed.
General comments?
The car handles great, rides a little rough, but has a solid feel on the road.
It’s the only car I know of that can destroy its sun visors or strangle the driver with those stupid automatic seat belt contraptions (If you have the visors facing the door window and stop the car). Just don’t stick you head out of the window and open the door at the same time, you could risk decapitation.
Under moderate to hard braking at high speeds the steering wheel shakes meaning the brake disks in the front are warped. It does have 4 wheel disk brakes, which really helps it to stop.
Air conditioning works great except in really hot weather, it doesn’t cool as good, might have to get it checked out.
Overall, it really is a good car the only reason I wouldn’t buy another one is because I try to do all my own tune ups and maintenance and this car has no room in the engine compartment to work with.
