1989 Acura Legend L review from North America
"Grows older with dignity and class, still a looker, always a Honda"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
From beginning, trouble with antenna retracting all the way - warranty service done, but problem continued after warranty period - motor is good, but design of mast with geared plastic "tail" is faulty.
Oxygen sensor started acting up (engine light comes on) within first 500 miles, and continues.
Cassette deck has always played tapes slightly fast, making vocalists sound like they inhaled helium.
Plastic screw cover buttons in interior began falling out from moment I drove it off the lot.
General comments?
All in a all a great car, and much better looking to this day than the later cars of the same name.
5-speed manual, though mentioned by Consumer Reports as not lasting past 25K (clutch), lasted well into the 100K range before it gave out.
Front seats are fatiguing after a few hours behind the wheel - seems to be most apparent on legs, just above the knee, and the "lumbar" support is weak at best.
Antenna should be controllable, like my mom's old Sable wagon, which has a separate antenna switch, enabling you to put it as high or low as you with... or down altogether for tapes.
Window defrosting adequate on a perfect day, but quite spotty and sometimes totally useless on bad days.
