2005 Acura RSX Type S review from North America
"Given my high expectations, I am somewhat disappointed"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Gear grind (3rd gear).
Gears pop out (5th and 6th).
Notchy 2nd and 3rd gear.
Rattles.
General comments?
I generally love the RSX-S. Very nimble and quick. I have owned Integras in the past 10 years, including this RSX-S. The car is generally very reliable except for two problems.
The CAT converter went out at 10k.
Notchy 2nd and 3rd gears. Third gear grind. And the most annoying ones are constant gear pop out (5th and 6th). They pop out even when they are snugged in smoothly.
Otherwise, the car is typical Acura (or Honda) dependability and of high quality.
I change transmission fluid as advised on the Internet (Penzoil synchromesh), and the gears pop out disappeared, but the notchy and grindy gears are still there.
