2002 Acura RSX type s from North America - Comments

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing.

General comments?

This is a engineering masterpieces, the engine is great and loves to be tapped to its full potential anytime you want it to, and the looks is ageless. If your thinking about the base RSX or RSX-S go for the type S please, 40 hp is a big difference, but if you get the base RSX just know you will lose in a race with me, guys in base RSX envy the Type S, so don't be the guy who kicks himself in the butt for buying a base model. And please if you have a base RSX don't try to show off to a Type S you are basically driving a hatchback civic Si, but of course a good looking one. Guys in civics, integras, accords, jettas, cobolts, focus', and neons wish they could have a Type S. The engine mods are endless and more are coming out each day. I do get a lot of stares, but I am a humble person, and never showoff to showoff, I go fast for personal reasons, like making guys in civics etc... look stupid.

Don't try to advocate driving fast for personal reasons when you openly admit right afterwords that you like making people in civics look stupid. You seem to have a lot of confidence in your car... must have just got it recently and haven't been beaten in it yet? Yeah, they are quick, and extremely nice both inside and out. Props to Honda for doing a nice job with them. But they aren't the fastest thing out there. For example, my "neon", which happens to be an SRT-4 S3, will eat your RSX-S for any meal of the day with its 352hp at the WHEELS. 220hp at the crank, although very fast compared to most production cars in it's class, is not the total cat's meow. I'm not trying to shoot down your car, they are super nice, very fast and can be made to be even faster... but don't trash talk on here like you can't be beaten, because you can. So can I, for that matter... someone ALWAYS has a faster car than you ;-)

The Acura will have much less reliability issues than the Neon. I drive a 2002 Acura TL Type S that I am awaiting the warranty to expire and then I will be free to do engine mods. It has been the most satisfying car I have ever owned. I have run my Acura pretty hard at times and yet it has been extremely reliable. My son drives a 2000 Dodge Viper Rt/10 and had a new Neon pull up blowing its pop offs at a light recently in Fla. It sounded good until he heard the Viper rev up with its catback exhaust and then he turned off. As much as he likes Chryslers he said he would buy a Mustang GT before any Neon.

I would agree, the Acura RSX isn't the fastest car out there, by all means the SRT 4 will smoke you in a race. But if that's all you want is a car with a good 0-60, don't get an RSX.

The RSX is the complete package, good looks, interior and exterior. High quaility parts, both mechanically and all the interior parts. Smooth ride, high resale, relatively fast, and low maintenance. For your everyday driver, you can't go wrong with the RSX, but again, if you just want a cheap, uncomfortable, unreliable, but FAST car, by all means get an SRT 4.

I recently purchased a type s and couldnt be happier... acceleration is inspiring.. and for those who don't wanna deal with the hassle and unreliability of driving a turbo'd car... you can spend a few hundred bucks here and there and have it running under 15 through the 1/4...besides hondas i-vtec is almost as good as boost :-) especially with the type r motor swap ;-)
