11:43...you will not take any guff or more accurately complain as you did not shell out $33,000 plus for this poor excuse of an automobile and faced a difficult decison to sell with low mileage. Acknowledge that people have very justifiable issues with this vehicle or better yet acknowledge actual owners issues without putting your head in the sand. No one cares that you have an older Accord with high mileage. Many of us had them as well felt we were taking a step upward and have become disgusted. Lets look at it another way. What if your comments prevents someone that is in the midst of parting with a serious safety issue with transmissions and they die or become severely injured because you said its fine why not keep it forever? My children were why I sold mine. I cannot imagine how someone that drives old vehicles and feels that all years are going to be the same. If I could buy brand new Legends in 2007 if they existed exactly like 12 or more years ago sign me up. They were a great vehicle however brand loyalty has to be continually earned not expected... if you buy every 2-3 years and start seeing less you naturally leave the flock. It does not mean you are a car dealer... I believe look at all brands import and domestic and please be kind enough to warn others with any unacceptable or dangerous issues. After you own and drive a vehicle you can certainly derive whether you like it or not. Mine dropped its first trans at 28,000 miles... luxury import or should it never be mentioned? You feel at time saying nothing makes you look less foolish, but it does not create fairness for other unsuspecting victims. I believe after 2000 was the turning point my opinion of course and I wonder how many others have. The trans was only one issue but the main reason we sold ours.

I loss money selling and grief, but no hair. I should have sold my Acura at 25,000 miles prior to the Car Fax reports from the dealer. I do not consider that high mileage...
I have had no trouble with my Acura Transmission yet. It is a 2002 TL Type S. I find if you drive it gentle for the first few Miles, allowing the Transmission to gently warm up, you will have a Vehicle that does not have transmission problems. I am the original owner and my Mileage is now at 148k.
No no no... you just got lucky. these cars are amazing in every single aspect except for the transmissions...

The Carfax annihilated me... every incident done shows up. If it is so perfect why did I pay more money and upgrade to GM? I touted my Acuras and Hondas everywhere til the last ones. Once Shame on you... twice shame on me. I had brake issues the rears wore out fast, new water pump, premature tire wear,rattling in the dash that I was in the dealership as well.
I beg to differ, my Father in law has the 2003TL Type S; again he has been the only owner. His car is now at 98k Miles and he and I fully agree that if you are gentle on the car by driving slowly the first 5 miles or so, then you will avoid problems with the transmission. Perhaps your vehicle suffered abuse by a prior Owner. Has the maintenance schedule been followed to the letter? We have all our serivcing needs performed by our local Acura dealership.
Hmmm maybe you paid more for your GM's because they were 2007 models? If you are that guy that bought trucks instead of a car maybe you bought a truck? You won't get out the door on a new Tahoe or Yukon for less than 30k. Could it be all that magical metal that allows the truck to get 15 miles per gallon? I hope this helps you out with your pondering on why you paid more for a GM because it was not an Impala or a Cobalt pal!
I paid about $5000 more than my TL new. Not a big difference and true 2007 models cost a bit more mainly if you are not satisfied with lackluster performance.
Honda is pretty easy going when it comes to pricing. They do not have option packages like other car companies do so models such as you 03 TL come out as even prices such as 28k or 32K depending on the model. Now what you don't realize is once you install the dealer installed accessories the price of the car sores which with your GM car came from the factory like it. Even though it may be limped from the transmission woes it is not a slow car and I itch my head when you say lack luster performance. I too join the other people here who have had no trouble with their transmission. I don't tail gate in traffic, in a affect having to slam on the brakes all the time and I do not do abrupt stops like I c many doing.
Price a brand new Honda Acura RL sedan when you get a chance. It is the closest equivalent to a new Legend in its day. The TL is more of a sports sedan than a luxury sedan. I almost considered a new Acura SUV when I traded my TL, but went with a black Trailblazer SS. SUV's are obviously not sports sedans... but with a family and not wanting to give up performance we are happy to date owning a SUV that is pretty exhilarating to drive. I'd still rather have a Porche SUV Cayenne Turbo, but the Trailblazer SS 390 hp is not sedate. I progressed with Hondas with more hp and having VTEC's I cannot visualize driving anything without decent performance. I run 93 octane as in the past just a bit more than before.
I agree with the comment left here on June 2nd.Yes, many people drive their Vehicles much too harshly, especially with regard to peeling out from Stop Signs and Braking severely at the last minute. These are the Folks who are going to suffer Transmission troubles. I am afraid that some Folks think that a car is unbreakable just because it is a higher priced Vehicle. This can only serve to give the Manufacturer a bad reputation.
21:25 I have learned to do rolling starts at 30 mph plus and have driven many imported cars included an NSX, Porche Turbos. I agree grade school kids drive and do kamikaze starts. slam on brakes etc etc. I never did any of this with my TL type S, but lost 2 transmissions. I would suspect most individuals owning this models are mature owners.
Although an initial impression regarding a defective and recurring problem with an automobile usually targets the driver, it does not appear to be situation with the Acura transmission. A defined recall by the manufacturer and recognized design flaw is very specific. It is noble that Acura recognized the problem and informed owners of the vehicle. How Acura resolves the defect is the most important issue. It appears defective components are being replaced with defective components, in this instance, the transmission.
I have an Acura TL 2001. And my mileage is 100K last month. Now my transmission is slipping. It is in the shop right now and I am looking at a very expensive fix. I wonder if it qualifies for the class action settlement. according to hondatransmissionsettlement.com, my VIN DOES qualify. I wonder if I can take it to any repair shop or if it has to be to the dealership.
