Bought a TL Type S with 28,500 miles. Heard about transmission problems, but thought I was purchasing Honda reliability.
Recently, with 32000 miles, the transmission started slipping + rough shifts. I have not abused this car (I have floored it 3 or 4 times but thought that this is why I bought a type S). Luckily I purchased an extended warranty as my VIN number is not covered to 109,000 miles.
So far my Triumph TR-6 was more reliable!
Comfortable, fast.
I bought a 03 TL Type-S in 05 with 24k on miles. At about 60k the tranny went, and Acura replaced it and now at 120k it's going again. So what, the trannys are only good for up to 50k miles?
When I purchased the car, I also got the super duper deluxe warranty, and I'm hoping that whatever the problem is (it's in the shop now), the warranty will cover it. Or at least there will be a warranty on the replaced tranny. If there isn't, how can I get them to replace it at no charge, or at least a few bucks (relatively speaking)?
