2000 Acura TL LX review from North America
"Acura needs to reinvent itself"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Transmission went out, from 45 MPH very quickly down to about 25 MPH. It was a very good thing that this did not happen to me on the freeway!
General comments?
Fortunately for me the prior owner had extended
warranty that covered the $4,500 cost. I spoke to the local Acura tech rep & they recommended that I do not utilize the slipshod transmission. For some unknown reason the chip inside the trans-brain tells itself to down shift at high speed; even though you did nothing!
I would recommend to everyone that you do not use your automatic trans as if it were standard with a clutch. If this does not help, then I recommend that you make your voice heard loud & clear to your local Regional & State Auto Repair Bureau.
P.S. Also park your car in front of the Acura dealer & protest back & forth with large banners. Also call in the Local TV News; negative media might put enough pressure on them to take the car back in for another trade or reimbursement.
