General comments?
Hi.
I purchased this car 2 years back and absolutely absolutely love it. from the front it looks very sharp and nice likely 2000 model, from the rear it is older like a 1995 model.
I put 20K miles/yr driving from florida to texas, kansas, north carolina, new york etc etc and it has never left me stranded so far. I changed the timing belt and water pump when servicing the water pump. THIS IS A MUST ON ALL HONDAs. Small price to pay for every 100K miles of trouble free service. think of it as cheap insurance. Then radiator went out, well not completely, I was driving with the slighly leaky radiator for about 5 months until I got a nice job and changed it myself. it is the easiest job so far on any car.
Then I changed tyres and got a 3 yr alignment service from tyre kingdom as I drive this car like a truck going over rocks and bumps and what not, constantly scratching the under carriage and it remarkably put up so far.
The ride is somewhat bumpy since the shocks are 13 yrs old, but its really sweet on good roads. I plan to get them changed sometime soon.
Gas mileage is anywhere between 17-27 depending on the driving. when I go more than 90+/100+ mph, the gas mileage badly drops down to 16-17 something and at 65- 75 something, I can drive close to 450 miles on 15 gal gas. my maintance is very very minimal. I do my oil change and clean my k&n filter whenever it is time. it has the true honda reliability.
I don't have any rust since it is a florida car. the interior has kept up really nice so far, it is all high quality stuff. only the front leather has craked up in places.
The engine is very powerful and is silent as it can be. I sometime have fun trying to race cars for short distances. you can definitely feel the adrelin, hehe. I have a 5spd, not sure about an auto.
This is my sixth 'old', 'used' car in 3 years. I just wanted to find something that will 'fit' me.
I would highly recommend this car to any first car buyer, if you are looking for a maintanance free car and some weekend action. although, it is highly recommended that you get the vehicle throughly checked before you buy it since it is a 'used' car and you never know how bad the previous owner 'abused' it. the only abuse I give is take it on dirt roads, road dividers when there's lots of traffic etc. all the crazy stunts and it does everything great.
the bad things of this car: if the blower motor, is hard to replace, you will have to remove the entire dash, i am lucky so far. rear leg space is a joke for such a large car. from the outside it looks big, but its hard to fit 4 people, although three of my friends rode in the car for about 3 hrs without any problems. just look at the rear seats before you buy and ask yourself if it is ok.
And by the way, I am keeping my vigor as long as it lasts. this is one truly truly remarkable car one of a kind.
