2004 Alfa Romeo 147 JTD Progression review from Luxembourg
"Sporty and reliable premium compact with style"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing really...
General comments?
I've bought the car as new, and used it for 20 months. During this period, I experienced no problems, no negative elements, just sheer driving pleasure. The less rich spec may have contributed to the good reliability, as usually optional gizmos made most the problems for my current car.
The 115PS diesel engine was more tham enough for an active driving. I replaced my 147 with a Volvo S40 1.6d, that showed more error massages in 6 months than my Alfa in 20. I also find the 1.6d's power insufficient, despite having similar power/weight ratio than the 147. While the 1.6d is sufficient for normal use, the JTD has even reserves. Whether passing by on land roads or accelerating at 160km/h, it never let me down.
I am seriously considering the 159 as an early replacement, actually I chose the Volvo partly because of fear for a newly presented model (and also because of financial reasons). By 2007 that should not pose any problems.
