1999 Alfa Romeo 166 review from South Africa
"Stunning looks and fun to drive"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Central locking failed @ 90000km
Rain sensor never worked
occasionally cruise control does not work
power steering fluid leak from pipe
premature rear tyre wear.
General comments?
I have kept this car longer than any previous vehicle because it is an absolute joy to drive, it's simply not worth trading in this vehicle due to the poor resale value, besides it is fully paid and that is a very satisfying feeling.
The ride could be better over smaller corrugations and the gearbox could hold onto gears a bit longer. I often drive with the gear lever in Sport. Gear changes are extremely smooth. The general reliability has surprised me.
Dealer service: Varies from abysmal to good.
