Previous owner had the engine rebuilt after cam belt broke causing extensive damage
suspension failed for MOT
inside door compartments is deteriorating
chrome door handles pitting.
Bodywork-pearlescent blue paint. what can I say-spectacular.against the blacked out windows it looks amazing
interior is comfortable and the leatherwork is pretty good
electronics all seem to work and goes against the comments of unreliability
engine-sounds aggressive on accelerating and gives a satisfying growl at higher revs
speed is excellent for such a big car and it handles superb
sportstronic gearbox weird at first, but once you get the hang of it its excellent.
I agree about the Sportronic, it is weird. It should have had at least 1 gear more. 4 isn't enough. Sometimes when accelerating I get past by even the slowest microcars on the road. The fact that the engine doesn't have any power below 4000 revs means you get something like a Turbo-gap feeling. I think this engine is at its best with a 6 speed manual.
But, when you get to understand the Sportronic it is very much OK. This Alfa isn't like other cars. I can't compare it with anything I know. It feels like a slower version of the Maserati Q-porte, interior is even better looking (if you have the leather and wood). Roadholding is fantastic! Great sound too.
Those who drive a fast Volvo or BMW will have problems at first with this automatic. Not a car for everybody. Fuelconsumtion is an other issue. 1/13 at 100km/h, 1/3.5 in the city, average around 1/7.5. This with normal driving.
With my former car, 200hp turbo engine, I got 1/8 driving fast everywhere.
I will buy an other one. There just nothing better looking than this big Alfa.
