1999 Alfa Romeo 166 T spark review from UK and Ireland
"Beautiful to look at, beautiful to drive, every electronic convenience conceivable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Poor idling.
Engine surged whilst driving.
General comments?
The above faults were minor and fixed quite quickly and easily by a (non dealer) mechanic.
The car looks fantastic!
Lovely to drive, good acceleration.
Great comfort for front passengers, less so in the back, but still adequate.
ICU system is a wonderful way to control all functions easily.
The only car I would swap this for is another one, the German manufactorers don't even come within the same solar system as this. And considering I bought it second hand for £3k (plus it is full leather with walnut trim), the value for money is phenominal. I also enjoy the fact that it has a rarety value, there are not many around. The looks are somewhat dependant on the colour, silver or black is best in my opinion (mine is mettalic silver)
There are only two downsides to owning the car -
1. It is a bit expensive to run, although I don't think it is over the top considering it is an executive range car,
2. At some stage you will get to where you are going and have to turn the engine off and get out of the car!
