1983 Alfa Romeo Alfasud SC review from Israel
"Perfect first car (although it was my third)"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I owned 83 alfasud 1.2 SC for a year, after that it been abandoned for 3 years on the street by the previous owner.
Had to replace headlights. found used.
Clutch slave cylinder stopped to work one day, Didn't find new so I renovate it.
Except that, surprisingly, the car was very reliable.
Here are problems that I saw on all alfasuds that I had encounter:
There was an oil leakage from the right side of the engine bay.
Rotten rear hatch (on 3 and 5 doors models)
Rotten right side engine mounting (a part that was only used at 80s alfasud)
General comments?
Great car, very fun to drive, excellent road-handling.
Plenty of grip even from 165/70/13 tires.
Nice steering feedback, although I think that my previous MK1 Golf GTI had better.
1.2l engine is very weak for mountain areas,
but it quite nice and economy for flat surface urban traffic.
Although it had few minor problems, It never let me down.
Never overheat! even at the worst traffic jams in the middle of the Israeli summer (40 C...)
Rust in Peace.
