1987 Audi 4000 CS Quattro review from North America

The side-mirrors malfunction by continuing to operate after the switch is released.

The engine hesitates for 5-15 seconds before smoothing out as if it is running out of fuel then flooding. This is an intermittant problem. We are confused about it.

The connecting tube from the resonator is broken off..flush.

There is a small area of wear on left side of the driver's seat.

Aside from the intermittant fuel problem and the bubbley sounding exhaust, this car is a welcome purchase! It's absolutely fun to drive. Unlike it's predecessor, everything works as if I climbed into the old Audi and snapped my fingers!

I am very pleased so far and paid only $1000.00 for it from a man who was deciding if he wanted it fixed or sold. I eyed it sitting in a repair shop's lot for 4 weeks and inquired about it. The owner decided to sell it to me although he was very attached to it being that it was his father's car. It had great sentimental value and he took very good care of it.

I previously drove a 1986 Audi 4000 S until the gear linkage gave out. First the reverse went then the rest of the clutch and gears. It also suffered the door getting caught on my neighbor's fence and the fender receiving a small dent. That car is now sitting in my driveway for parts to be saved and some to be sold. The engine has 167,000 miles on it and it still purrs! Not bad for $50.00 five six years ago!

I am very pleased to comment on my cars in this review. My fiancee and I will to continue to search for a way to fix the intermittant problem ourselves. We also are working on devising a way to connect the tube back to it's resonator since they are rust and hole free. A good weld job maybe?

I highly suggest owning an Audi no matter what age it is.
