1987 Audi 4000 cs quattro review from North America
"I've owned 5 audi's.. this is my favorite"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Rear door handles are kinda flimsy.
One window switch failed, not regulator.
General comments?
MOST FUN CAR EVER!
Very predictable handling.
Looks mean =).. factory wheels ruined it's look, and skinny puffy tires give a soft ride, but handling suffered. I put the 10 spoke 15 inch off an audi 90 all around with decent (not lo-pro) tires... big improvement. looks HOT!
Diff locks rule!
It's a compact car... and I'm 6"3'.. very comfortable up front., but I wouldent want to be stuck in the back.
My brother owns a 2005 civic si and offered me a trade straight up =D.
It's still slow.. in a straight line, but quick around the twisties ;)
Engine is nuke-proof.
If your looking into buying an old, high mileage audi 4000, do yourself a favor and don't let worn suspension components influence your descision.. bushings are cheap, transmission and rear end mounts go bad.. cheap and easy replace, wheel bearings are cheap, only the shocks might cost a little cream for labor.. and parts, if you go for high end units.
