Plenty:
Radiator leaked.
Dashboard electrical failed, rewired.
Engine replaced TWICE.
Tranny replaced.
Power door locks & windows were under constant repair.
Passenger seat broke off its railing.
This car did nothing but have something break continuously.
It looks like your car was in pretty bad shape at the time of purchase. The previous owner did not take any care of that car. I drive Audis (just like all my family members and many friends) for several years, without any unusual problems. At this time one of my Audis has 330,250 miles (!!!) on the odometer. Runs like new (went thru one transmission, one steering rack and one window lifter) and looked like new, until an idiot with Japanese vehicle (not a car) damaged one fender on it.
Gentlemen!
Audis (and VW) usually lasts at least 500 000 kilometers without any unusual problems.
We had a Audi 100 diesel with 745 000 kilometers on it, no worries.
Thomas.
It is by far the worst car I have had.

Audis are great! Just make sure you have a competent VW-Audi mechanic taking care of the car, that's it.
The worst thing that can happen to a luxury European car is being left to a North American car mechanic trying to treat it like a Ford. Avoid that and you'll have the best car you can dream of... Audi 5000S 1988 are great cars!
I just purchased a 1988 Audi 5000S. Like the other people have stated, it's a great car. What makes it a problem are the people who owned the car before you that didn't take care of it. Like the Audi I have. I am fixing the things that are wrong (which is a lot) slow, but surely. I just think they are a classy looking car and they, just like any car, needs to be taken care of properly and it will be a wonderful car. What I have found so far is this car has bad designed door handles. Both my front doors are inoperative, but they just need new plastic connectors. No big deal. I have no negative opinions for this car. Just the way they have been treated. Thanks.
