1988 Audi 90 review from North America
"If you're a mechanic, and you like a challenge this car is for you"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Brakes failed
flex hoses cracked.
Air to fuel mixture kept screwing up, had to take to dealer multiple times to correct it.
Couple of electrical problems.
Sunroof got stuck very often, had to lube it every week.
The bulbs in the switches slowly started burning out one by one.
Second gear syncro went.
General comments?
The car was very sluggish and poorly responsive. especially if you put regular 87 octane instead of the recommended 91+ premium fuel. And to change any parts on this old car is a nightmare. Everythings rusted up and you'd be lucky if you don't break any nuts and bolts during the process.
Aside from its slow moving body and problems, it was the most comfortable ride I've been in a while. And for an 88 that's speaks a lot about audis design structure for their interior and suspension tuning. It was more comfortable than most newer cars out there now.
