2001 Audi A2 1.4 TDi review from UK and Ireland
"Open road fun, but town driving misery - and overpri"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Faulty (stuck) service flap catch.
Bad electrical joint caused lighting failure.
General comments?
Goes like a firecracker, with lots of top-end torque.
The car is an excellent motorway cruiser, but contrary to expectations, is a very bad ride around town. The suspension & low-profile tyres caused the car to "bottom" in potholes and give a generally very rough ride.
The firm steering (resulting, no doubt, from the firm suspension setup) is fine unless you seriously err, when the understeer can be frightening!
Forward quarter viewing visibility notoriously poor - but you soon get used to and work around it.
Build quality and finish generally exceelent.
