2001 Audi A4 from North America - Comments

"The car SUCKS!!!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

- Coil Packs failed.

- Oil pressure failed resulting in a tow and oil pan removal. Purly a design flaw. I had the oil changed at the dealer per the spec.

- Alternator failed.

- Water temp sender failed.

- Fan mount bearing failed.

- Front brake pad cracked.

General comments?

I enjoy the car, but servicing it is a joke. Over priced parts!!!

No real manuals. Even the dealer manuals lack detail in theory of operation.

No one really knows the details. Forums are only filled with part changers and words of speculation.

I would not buy another AUDI again.

You won't buy an Audi again... but you marked that you'd buy an Audi again? Ever think that maybe some of the crap that went wrong was the *driver's* fault? ;)

I too had the sending unit for the temperature gauge fail, twice. Once about mile 75,000 and the other time, just last week at 199,500 miles.

I have had the tie rods replaced with upgraded tie rods from Blaufergnugen, who have larger diameter tie rods.

I replaced the rear wheel bearings at 92,000 and at 186,000 miles. Because my A4 is front wheel drive, access to the bearings is simple.

I currently have almost 200,000 miles on my A4, and still have the same shocks, same turbo, same clutch, and the leatherette upholstery is wearing great.
