At 4,500 miles all 4 tires are completely worn out to bald tires damaging the rims.
The dealer and Audi told me it was because of the way I was driving it. They said the tires were not defective and despite of it only being 4 months old with only 4,500 miles they refused to cover it under warranty.
Bull Crap.
Has anybody with an Audi or with other cars ever had this problem?
I spoke to tire specialists and they could not believe Audi would not take care of this under warranty because its impossible to have 4 brand new tires to wear out at 4,500 miles no matter how you drive.
Do not ever depend on dealers or on your manufacturers warranty because they will cheat you, let you down, and screw you over to the top.
Regardless of Audi, tires are warrantied by the tire manufacturer. They have a separate warranty. If your dealer will not honor warranty the tire manufacturer must.
It's a new car -- likely the dealer is giving you the runaround. Take legal advice get on to it. Don't let it sour your relationship with what might be a car you may otherwise be very happy with.
I know someone with the new Q7 and the dealer told them they needed new tires ~and~ brakes at 25,000 miles! This was pretty shocking and the dealer wanted in excess of $3,000. They had the work done elsewhere, but it still rang in around $2,000. I guess if you have to do it all at once it will be high, but people please take your cars to private shops!
Audi doesn't make tires. What brand tire is it?
Unless the alignment is so aggressive, to a point you will SEE something is wrong. Otherwise the only way to wear them out in 4.5k is if you drive it like you are on track.
German brakes do tend to go out quite often, their cars are heavy, and their brakes must stop them going 120-130mph, so they are relatively soft, made from high friction material.
Audi! Because your auto mechanic deserves a fat paycheck, too.
I work with tires, and have worked with tires for over 5 years now... the tires WILL not go bald after 4500 miles unless you are constantly drifting or burning them out... to the guy who commented on a "shocker" that brakes went out in 25000 miles, well sir, front brakes should be changed about every 20000, and 25000 miles for tires seems reasonable only if the guy did not rotate his tires. PLEASE PEOPLE ROTATE YOUR TIRES EVERY 6 months, or at least every 10000 miles.
I have a BMW, supposedly a "high-maintenance" machine, and I have gotten well over 50,000 miles out of brakes AND tires with spirited driving, and I have relatively low-profile tires. It is not unreasonable to expect this kind of life out of these items and Audis should be just as capable as BMWs in this regard. I do love the style/design of Audis more than almost any other car and hope to own one someday!
Audi don't make tyres, why blame Audi for tyres? If the tyres only lasted for 4500 miles, the owner should really change his driving styling before the car run into a light pole. Get real, even cheap Chinese made tyres could last for 10000 miles on normal usage.
