2001 Audi A4 review from UK and Ireland

Radio does not provide clear reception.

Tyres replaced at 30,000.

Very versatile.

Good visibility from drivers seat.

Average performance (better if I could have stretched to the 130bhp model!)

I waited a long time for this car (estate model) to be launched and kept my previous A4 (old model estate) over mileage so I could get it. Overall I am very happy with it and had no problems with the dealer / service.

In comparison to the last model, I am disappointed with the additions that you have to pay extra for. I cannot understand how in this day and age, heated rear mirrors are not standard. I did not want to pay extra for the winter pack, not realising that the mirrors were not standard and now have lots of problems on winter mornings!!

Would have loved to have been able to stretch to the 130 bhp model and it goes loke a rocket, but the 100bhp had to do. Not as fast last my last one 110bhp, but adequate.

I am over 6 foot and my right knee rubs on the door armrest and is quite uncomfortable.

I have mentioned the problem with the radio (very poor reception) to the dealer who says that they can locate no fault. I believe that it is as a result of the aerial now being incorporated within the rear side windows as opposed to the aerial on the roof in the previous model which had an excellent (Concert) radio.

The car was supplied without a service manual and I still have to receive one (which I am told will be stamped with "duplicate") - could cause a problem when sold on, but as it is a company car I am not too bothered.

All in all, a very well build, enjoyable (but expensive to buy) car.
