2001 Audi A6 review from North America
"Do not buy this car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Front rotors wore out after 18K miles.
Rear rotors wore out after 25K miles.
Audi admits the rotors are too thin and fixed the problem in the 2002 models, however they would not replace mine with the newer rotors.
Turbo boost went out around 18K miles.
Interior door panel wouldn't shut.
Transmission started banging into third gear when accelerating from second gear. Of course, the dealer could not duplicate the problem.
General comments?
The reliability of the A6 2.7T is a big let down after you've paid 46K plus tax. I've taken the car into the dealer for repairs eight times in a year and half.
The 2.7T is fun to drive, it's very fast and the suspension and handling are amazing.
The leather interior was very well done, however the driver's side is cramped and your right leg is never comfortable.
