Vxr is proper hot hatch, your rebadged golf is over 20k.
To be fair, you should all buy a Lada Samara. It will be faster than all mentioned, cheaper, out-handle and look better.

Oh behave, have fun torque steering your way into a hedge. You'll probably find a focus RS there when you arrive.
Vauxhall = Dreadful chav image / naff handling& build quality.

I own an Astra VXR, and I think it's the best hot hatch on the market, except the new S3 with 260bhp.
The VXR looks better, no one can deny that, but the S3 is faster, has a four wheel drive system, probably handles better, and it has an Audi badge. Usually I'm not bothered about what badge a car has. Ford, Honda, Vauxhall, Peugeot, Renault, Nissan etc aren't any better than each other really, so it doesn't matter which one of them you have, so long as it's the best car in its class and price range, but Audi are a cut above them all, so overall a better car than my VXR.
I don't think it's the best hot hatch on the market. The Focus is better, so is the Golf, and so is the Civic Type R.
It's only fast in a straight; too much power to the front wheels, so the others would outclass it around bends.
So far on Top Gear the VXR has been faster than the Focus ST and the Golf GTI. They haven't had the new Type R yet. The VXR was also faster than the Golf r32. The VXR has far better grip than people think. For a completely honest review of a car, you shouldn't watch Fifth Gear or Top Gear. Go on www.whatcar.co.uk for an honest review of a car.
P.S. the VXR has a lot more grip than people think. People have just heard things about it, and pre judge it without driving it; it's a fantastic car.
