2000 Audi TT Quattro review from North America
"Great car to own and drive"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When I first got the car the fuel gauge wasn't working. So the dealership that I purchased the car from went to supposedly "fix the problem" and he only made it worse. He told me the heavy gasoline smell would go away in a few days. I waited over two weeks and the gasoline smell was so strong I thought I was bathing in it, plus it was making me sick everyday I drove the car to work! I brought it to a local tech in my area and he looked at the car to find out everytime I filled up the car the gasoline it was pouring into and under my back seat. He had to clean up a lot of puddles under my back seat! He also fixed the broken clips on sending unit which cause the problem.
Nothing else to complain about, car runs great. I cannot get it to break.
I did have simple maintenance done on car with local tech (stuff that I know hadn't been touched) - the usual flush out coolant, timing belt, coil packs, brakes and rotors, and fresh brake fluid.
I am quite picky when it comes to maintaning a vehicle, especially one I just purchased.
General comments?
The car is a great car to own. This is my first German car and I love it. Car handles great on those long windy back roads. Steering is still tight and responsive.
The cabin is comfortable for one person, two at max. don't think of trying to put anyone in the rear seats - they just won't be happy.
Heated seats are great if you do a lot of driving everyday like I do.
If you have a choice get the Quattro (all-wheel drive) it is worth the extra money. Though, the trunk is smaller but the rear seats fold down so there is still plenty of usuable room.
Driving in the New England Winter won't be so bad if you get good winter weather tires.
Car is a great car to own and drive everyday. Trust me people will notice you more... especially the police.. oops! So watch those speed limits.
