Nothing at all.
Great handling, slighty hard ride due to sport suspension, averages approx 45 mpg which is a lot less than the 1.9 tdi skoda (56 mpg) fun car to drive not sure about 6 speed gearbox, wife thinks is it great. cabin is a little gloomy all black, but sports seats are good, flies on motorway just wants to keep going, but speed limits have to be observed.
Only problem I had was with sticking door handles. Started at around 6 months old - and eventually all four handles would open easily, but needed at thump to put them back in.
At next service, dealer replaced all under warranty.
New ones started sticking after only 4 weeks...
UMMMMMMMMMM Can't really understand what all the fuss is about with the BMW's..
I DID own a 1 series auto diesel.. It had 8,000 on the clock and was the answer to my dreams.. or so I thought!!! Basically I had trouble from week 1... it would not go into reverse... it would not register the diesel after I had filled it up.. I had trouble opening the doors... I had the handbrake jam.. and could not get it released... the engine would cut out at low speeds.
In the end I sold it back to the dealer, which left me out of pocket.. but happy...
Funnily enough I have a neighbour who also has a 1 series.. and I'm telling you that their car has been towed away FROM THEIR DRIVE more times than I can remember... I now have a Ford Focus.. and it's the most bloody reliable thing I've ever driven...
The 1 series is nice to look at, but I would never buy another... too many problems...
